Solving the Paradigm Shift in Big Data analysis: from VVV to LSST

Carlos Eduardo Ferreira López

Astronomy is living through an exceptional moment in human history because many unclear matters on variability stellar astrophysics can be now accessed. The visual inspection of current data sets is  infeasible and hence the determination of efficient methods to find unbiased sample is mandatory. We present an accurate and efficient way to achieve this task. In particular, the analysis of entire VVV survey is presented using these procedures. For the past 6 years, the ESO Public Survey VISTA Variables in the Vı́a Láctea (VVV) has been mapping the IR variability of the Milky Way bulge and southern mid-plane. The VVV variable star catalog (VIVA) provides an unique chance to address the Milky Way ‘dark’ regions and access many open questions about stellar astrophysics process.  Moreover, this challenge test our capability to confront the ongoing huge amount of data coming from LSST project.
